How much time do you have? Buckle up for this story!
Their story starts freshman year of high school, when Caroline realized she didn't have a date to the homecoming dance. After looking through the year book to see who the potential contenders could be, she told her friends this boy named Josh Fulker looked cute. She got his number and texted him, asking if he had a date. He said no, and so they agreed to go together. Following that, they began texting quite a bit. They went to the dance and had a lovely time. A few weeks later they went on a triple date to the movies. As they were walking down the hallway after the movie, Josh apparently asked Caroline to be his girlfriend. Caroline responded "yes" to a question her friend asked her at the same time.
Josh found it to be odd after the triple date they weren't texting like boyfriends and girlfriends do, nor walking around the halls together at school. Josh decided to ask Caroline what the deal was. Let's just say Caroline didn't hear him ask her to be his girlfriend. Yikes.
Following this ordeal, the two never crossed paths until senior year of high school.
The first day of senior year in physics class, Caroline and Josh realized they were in the same class. Mr. Riethman had everyone stand up in a circle around the room as he went alphabetically down the line for seating assignments. There was only one person Josh didn't want to sit next to: Caroline. Sorry Josh, F comes after E. Caroline and Josh were sat next to each other at a two person table. They started to chat here and there during class and were forced to work together on group projects. Caroline started to see something between them but wasn't sure how to go about it.
Caroline heard through the grapevine that Josh liked her, but wasn't sure because they were about to go off to college soon. Sometimes you have to get creative when the guy isn't making the first move. Caroline direct messaged Josh on Twitter asking if he had the physics homework. He said he did and provided his phone number to get it from him (he didn't have it done, but did it so he could give it to her).
And the rest is history... sort of. They couldn't stop talking between texting, FaceTime and hanging out. On January 11, 2015, they were on a bowling date with some friends. Josh dropped Caroline off at home and loud and clear asked her to be his girlfriend. Of course she said yes.
Caroline watched all of Josh's baseball games, they were on prom court together, they went to prom, Josh supported Caroline in her musical endeavors and pageants, and then they finally graduated high school.
After a fun summer, the saddest departure occurred as Josh went to the University of Cincinnati and Caroline ventured off to The Ohio State University. The couple did long distance their freshman year, and then Josh decided to transfer to the better school.
Caroline and Josh made the most of their time at Ohio State – attending every home football game, concerts, formals, house parties and traveling. They traveled to Estes Park, Colorado for a wedding the summer before senior year and fell in love with the state. This is what started the conversation of moving out of Ohio post-grad.
Caroline and Josh graduated from The Ohio State University on May 5, 2019. One of the best days ever!
Caroline and Josh packed up all of their belongings in late May 2019 and headed for Denver, Colorado. They both had jobs lined up and were ready to begin their next adventure together. Thankfully Caroline had family in the state to help get them acclimated and adjusted to the area.
A few months later they adopted a 9 month old corgi, Leo (named after their favorite bar at Ohio State), who quickly became the center of attention in the house. They made friends through work and that helped establish comfortability with being so far away from home.
Fast forward to November 11, 2023, Josh finally popped the dang question! They were visiting Ohio for the weekend and giving the hometown tour to their pals Emma and Ryan. They went to Columbus for the Michigan State game and Caroline had to be convinced (after rushing the field multiple times as a student and graduating on the field) to do the pre-game on-field experience. Little did she know Josh would be asking a big question at her favorite place in the world! She was very oblivious of the whole thing, standing there as they were getting their picture taken, when next thing you know Josh is down on one knee. She couldn't believe it was actually happening, even though she was suspicious (and asked Emma about it, sorry Emma!) that he might be proposing that weekend. The whole proposal and day was perfect!
Presently Caroline and Josh own a cute home in North Park Hill, take walks with Leo, ski all winter, play volleyball all summer, attend and watch sporting events, travel, happily host out-of-towners, garden, cook gourmet meals and spend time with their crew.
They're both so excited to celebrate their love and future together with all of you!
